أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed.

أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

میں اللہ کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں شیطان مردود سے۔

Auzubillah Minashaitan Nirajeem Meaning

The word Auzubillahi means “I seek refuge in Allah” and Minashaitan means “from the shaitaan”. The last word Nirajeem means “the accursed”. So, when you say this phrase, it means that you are asking Allah to guard and protect the person who said it.

It is a warning that urges one to recognize the temptations of Satan and be extra careful while speaking and doing many other things not to let Satan get access to us. The literal meaning of word Auzubillah Minashaitan Nirajeem is: ‘I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, who is accursed.’ It reminds to seek protection from all evil influences and attentions of Satan when we read Quran and then recite salat.

Auzubillah Minashaitan Nirajeem Importance

Verse 98 of Surah Nahl of the Holy Quran says: “So when you read the Quran, [first of all] seek refuge in Allah from Satan who has been cast out [by His mercy]. From this verse, it is important to read Azubillah Minashaitan Nirajeem whether you are starting from the beginning of the Surah or in the middle of a longer text like Surah Baqarah.

Sulaiman B. Surd narrated: those two men abused each other in front of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), peace and blessings be upon him, so one of them’s eyes became red like coals and his neck veins swelled. So, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

I know of a wording, if he were to utter that, his fit of rage (would be no more and that wording is): I seek refuge with Allah from Satan (Shaitan) the accursed. The person said: Do you see any madness in me? Ibn al-‘Ala’ said: Do you see it? And he made no mention of the person.
